The Virtual Museum is a project initiated by Felix Sperling of the University of Alberta’s Strickland Museum. This site is a growing resource with a large mandate – to provide information on all insects known to live in Alberta. Several ALG members are helping produce Lepidoptera species pages with color images, range, host plant and other data, as well as dot-maps and phenology histograms generated and updated from an interactive database of Strickland Museum and other records. This is an ongoing project, but already pages for over 600 species of Alberta butterflies and macro-moths have been completed. Data on all the butterflies and macromoths in the Strickland Museum is available on the website.
